Over 24 million people have now done Alpha. Alpha is one of the most effective ways of understanding and wrestling with the Christian faith. Giving you a chance to listen, talk and even debate about different aspects of Christianity. Alpha gives you space to ask any and all questions that you might have.
Whether you’re searching for the meaning of life or simply want to know a bit more about the Christian faith then Alpha is a great place to come.
But, of those 24 million people who have gone on an Alpha course; I wonder how many have come because of a big poster with a question mark on it, or because of a hashtag encouraging people to ‘try alpha’ or because they simply decided they would Google ‘course I can go on to find out more about the Christian faith’. I’d personally be surprised if the number was even as high as 10%.
If we want to see our family, friends, course mates and neighbours encountering Jesus then we need to talk to them, invite them and make use of the amazing resources that we’re so blessed to have at our disposal. Alpha is one of those resources. It strives to create an atmosphere where any and all questions are permissible, no matter how silly, clever or hostile and it does it all with the tagline of ‘No pressure, No follow up, No charge.’
On Wednesday 8th October The Belfrey is launching its latest Alpha course with a Cheese and Wine Evening. There will be a live band and Greg Downes will be tackling the subject of whether faith is ‘Irrelevant, Boring or Untrue’. Who are you going to invite?
