Matthew also told a great story to illustrate how God forgives; about a hockey player in Canada who was a fairly average if rather aggressive man. He would get into bar fights on a semi-regular basis and from time to time would find himself in prison. A little while later this man came to know Jesus and ended up joining a missionary organisation but found that his criminal record would stop him from being able to enter some countries. So the man wrote to the Queen asking for a royal pardon, the pardon was granted and from that day forward if his name was entered into a database it would appear as having no criminal record whatsoever. Gods forgiveness is like this, once we have been forgiven nothing will ever be held against us again.
The flip side to being forgiven however is that we must forgive others who do things that hurt us. A wonderful testimony from Paul Myers left us with the question: Once we know that we have been forgiven for every bad thing we have ever done, how can we not forgive others?
So another great night at #the7 led brilliantly by Rosie Brabbs for the first time along with some great sung worship led by Andy Barthow.
